A Place of Rest
Margaret Atwood,
famous poet, novelist and literary critic, once said, “If I waited for
perfection, I would never write a word.”
The last time I
wrote a blog post was in August. Well, at least the last post that I actually
put up on my blog. I have written many posts between now and then, none seemed
good enough. When I read that quote from Margaret, I knew she was right. I will
never have the perfect blog post and if I wait for the “perfect” one, it will
never come.
This blog is a
place where I can come, imperfections and all, and share what is on my heart.
Whether that be something seemingly trivial, or something that is really
important. I want my blog to be a place of integrity, of transparency. I want
it to be like a soft warm blanket of imperfections. To be a place that people
feel they can come and share, to walk alongside me.
As a printable
made by my mom says, (and a similar post on her blog, I believe), “imperfections
are welcome here.” They are not only welcome, they are encouraged. Come, kick
up your feet and rest in peace, knowing that you are not the only person that
has struggles. Find rest in the comfort of your imperfections, knowing that you
serve a God that takes away all imperfections and makes you whole again.
“16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an
eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
