Beauty Isn't Just an Object
Beauty is a Moment Too
When I was younger, I
used to love to give my parents homemade gifts. I knew that my dad loved to
read and that he had/has a lot of books in his office, therefore; my go-to gift
for him was always a bookmark.
Fast-forward ten or so
years, and I get a text message from my dad. It said something along the lines
of, “I just opened a book and this bookmark fell out… I have a whole box of
things that you made for me like this.”
The photograph below is what
he attached to the text message.
I chose this as my
beauty picture today for a huge reason. It isn’t just an object that is
beautiful, it is a moment or a memory that can also be beautiful. The reason
this was beautiful to me, was that this piece of junk bookmark that had simple
pencil drawn on it was something that my dad has treasured for so many years. Not
only this bookmark, but many others that I’m sure are almost exactly alike.
The beauty is his love
for me. I’m sure that he really isn’t a huge fan of the bookmark itself, but he
loves me so much that he kept it anyway.
His unwavering love for
me gives me a small glimpse into what Christ feels for His children.
That kind of love… that’s
truly beautiful.
