Trusting Like Peter...
Jesus Walks on the Water
"27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
I think that I have always been a little judgmental of Peter, my thought process has always been, "You are standing on water for Pete's sake! You need more proof than that? There is no way you can do that on your own!" Little did I realize, I am exactly like Peter. I constantly take my eyes off of Jesus with the attitude of, "I prayed, God gave me a direction, I can take it from here." Uh... no I can't. No one can. I just go through life with the mindset of Jesus being a back-up plan, just for when my plan ultimately crumbles and fails. He has a way of breaking and molding me, forcing me to call upon Him for peace and for counsel. The fact of the matter is, I should never take my eyes off of Him, not even for a second, because that one second that I get afraid and look down is the same second that I start to sink into my sinful nature.
I love the song, "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus," the lyrics just say it all.
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
look full in His wonderful face,
and the things of Earth
will grow strangely dim,
in the light of His glory and grace."
Today I encourage you to look at your life and ask yourself, "where is my face turned?"

I love it!!!
